How to play Pickleball?
Pickleball is a fun and fast-paced paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. Hereโs a simple guide to get started:
Objective:
The goal is to hit the ball over the net and score points by making it land in the opponentโs court without them returning it properly.
Basic Rules:
โ Serving:
- Serve underhand and below the waist.
- The serve must be diagonal, landing in the opposite service court.
- The ball must clear the non-volley zone (the “kitchen”).
โ Double Bounce Rule:
- The ball must bounce once on each side before volleys (hitting in the air) are allowed.
โ Non-Volley Zone (“The Kitchen”):
- You cannot volley (hit the ball in the air) while standing in the kitchen.
- You can step in to hit a ball after it bounces.
โ Scoring:
- Only the serving team can score points.
- Games are typically played to 11, 15, or 21 points (win by at least 2 points).
โ Doubles vs. Singles:
- In doubles, each player gets a chance to serve before the other team takes over.
- In singles, service switches sides after a point is lost.
Equipment Needed:
- Paddle: Similar to a large ping pong paddle.
- Ball: Plastic with holes, like a wiffle ball.
- Court: 20×44 feet (same as a badminton court).
How to Win?
Use strategyโsoft shots, lobs, and quick reactions are key!
Keep the ball in play and force your opponent to make mistakes.
Stay out of the kitchen unless hitting a bounced ball.
